The link doesn't work, because the PC World site is session based, but if you go to http://www.pcworld.co.uk and search for 089027 you'll find the offer.
For 300 pounds you get an iPAQ 2210, wired GPS and TomTom Navigator 3 software - the picture implies a TomTom car kit is also included, so at worst all you're missing for a complete setup is a memory card (which is not much money).
This is a great deal - and, not surprisingly, a special offer that finishes on the first of June. It's also out of stock - whether you can place an order and wait for stock, I don't know.

Although both PCWorld and Dixons web sites say they're out of stock you can get one if you call round the stores (or ask your local to search for you). However, PCWorld said "there weren't any left" and that "Dixons won't have any either". Being an untrusting sort of soul I called the local Dixons who were very helpful and although they didn't have any they searched their database and told me of several other local sores that did. Gave one a call and picked it up for £299 30 mins later!
Versus the normal price it does seem a steal!
Just got to work out how to use it now!

Went to PC World this morning. Big poster - iPAQ 2210 + Tomtom 3 for £399! So you can't get hold of this advertised for £299 but it's there for £399.
Something not quite right!

Looks as though the £399 one is the Bluetooth version.

The offer ended on June 1st, but before then you got TT3, TT in car kit and an Ipaq 2210 for £299. Admitted no extra memory, but a bought a 256MB CF card at the same time for £40.
It was a great deal and loads cheaper than anything else I've seen,

For once, I made the right choice. I saw the advert in the paper for the deal for £299 for the whole kit. I was tempted and was thinking about it. Later that day I was in Edinburgh airport. The offer there was £254 for the ipaq, car kit & Navigator 3!
I bought it.
They had run out of the navigator 3, but the assistant rang another store & it was delivered to my home 2 days later.
wow.
Like I say. For once I made the right choice.
Sorry to rub it in, but the Ipaq and Tom Tom are brilliant. :D |

Wow satnavmike, it sounds like you got a great deal there!
Maybe airports are the place to look for GPS bargains from now on!
I was in a local(ish) PC World on Friday 28th May and saw the sign for the £299 iPAQ 2210 and TTN 3 offer... with a big 'SOLD OUT' stamped across it!
For all those people who missed out on the offer this time round, I wouldn't be too disappointed, as they are bound to do something like that again in the near future, especially as it seems to have been a big hit with the 2210 and TTN 3.

Does the car kit contain a powered cradle for the ipaq so one does not have so many cables to hide??
Cheers

Yes, the cradle is powered - indeed it HAS to be plugged into the ciggie lighter to power the antenna.
Not sure how much that reduces the mess of cables though, because it means you have one cable from the ciggie lighter to the cradle and then one out to the antenna. I'm not exactly blown away by the quality of the cradle to be honest - eg the connection between the antenna plug and cradle seems a bit sloppy to me. However, I haven't compared them to any other brand so maybe they're worse!
I would have prefered it if the cradle was capable of powering the antenna without being plugged to the lighter really, although I realise the battery life would have been short. If it hadn't been for the stunning deal I think I would have prefered the CF card antenna route.
