Hi All,

I am having an extremely hard time to get some straight answers.

I have a in-dash multifunction unit (GPS, DVD, Bluetooth etc) that is Windows CE 5.0 based. At the moment it has Route 66 running off the SD card.

I would just like to know what other software i can use on it?

It doesn't have Windows Mobile or anything else running on it, and the menu setup looks exactly like in this topic http://www.pocketgpsworld.com//modules.php?name=Forums&file=viewtopic&t=76999

From what i understand, you stick the SD card in your PC, dump what ever program you want to run over to it, put the SD back in the unit, point to the exe file and off you go. Nothing to do with using active sync or looking at any other program files dir.

Route 66 isn't a very 'attractive' application.
If someone could list what software will run on it (and even possibly links) i would greatly appreciate it.

McGuider and Sygic both work well on these devices TTN6 can be made to work but TTN7 seems to have issues with the voice and isn't worth bothering with.
I would expect I-Go would work but I have never tried it as I don't have a license, anything that can be loaded 100% to a memory card and inserted to the head unit should work.

Route 66 in the version supplied is one of my old favourite applications for the PDA but the maps are around four years out of date, the new Route 66 application is crap so don't bother thinking about putting that on the head unit - Mike

Hi Mike,

Thanks for the quick response. When i have a look at both programs McGiver and Sygic, they both ask what kind of device eg Symbian, Windows Mobile or Android, and they prompt you to enter your device before purchasing. As far as i know, the unit doesn't run on any of those.

Can you offer any advice with this?

Regards

Gene

Its Windows Mobile to all intents and purpose so choose that, the other options you mention are really specific to mobile phones and certainly won't run on a Win CE 5,0 based product but Windows Mobile should do - I am running McGuder/ Sygic on my unit currently and thats Windows Mobile based software - Mike

Hi Mike,

I've been having a look for those programs you suggested, but i can't find McGuider anywhere. And Sygic doesn't seem to work. When i downloaded the Windows Mobile version it wanted to use active sync to install it (which obviously won't work)
Any help will be appreciated.
