I saw a camera tucked away at the West Barnes Lane level crossing, that's the one between Motspur Park station & Raynes Park station (I think the nearest main trunk road's the A3).

Be wary about it, it's very like a Monitron, but with a ball lens below it.
If anyone lives in the locale, perhaps they can have a look.

Ta.

PS. I've reported it.

Have you got co-ordinates? I can take a look using google maps and give you an quick idea of what is there.

There's nothing on Google maps, I'm certain it's the footbridge side of the crossing, set back behind the boom furthest from the "main road", that's if you're leaving Burlington Road to enter West Barnes Lane. I only caught a very brief glimpse of it as I passed over the crossing on a train this morning. It seems very new.

Had a look at the crossing this afternoon.
There are 2 cameras, one either side of the track - so as to face oncoming traffic in each direction. Both are on the footbridge side f the crossing.
I will submit them as new cameras anyway.

Can't work out how to attach the pic, so I have emailed MaFt, sorry if it is a bit big, just copied it from my phone.

Cheers, Bob

Edit.

No I haven't because there are no email addresses - Doh!

Right, small yellow box, probably around 2 foot square, what appears to be a light source at the top middle.
In the centre there is a round reddish glass dome about 6 inches diameter - very much like the cctv types. There are no markings on the crossing.
I wonder if they are cctv monitors for the crossing, and they are both very new.

Edit to add picture as requested, use the edit button on this post to see how its done - Mike Alder

You need to use a website like photobucket to host the image and include the link in your post.

Edit

Removed the link as the pic is now shown above.

Hope this works Anita.

Been checking the interweb, appears that West Barnes lies 9th out of the top ten worst offender crossings in the UK according to National Rail (or whatever they are called).
So may well be cctv recording the antics of drivers and pedestrians, for this reason I didn't add them to database until they are confirmed as 'red light' cameras. They don't appear to cover the stop lines because they would be shooting through the barriers when they are down.

Cheers Bob

Sorry, Bob, I misled you there! Embarassed

What you need to embed a picture in a post is the IMG tag, not the direct link, and there's also a limit on the size of images posted on the forum of 450 pixels wide x 800 pixels high.

Size reduced to within the forum restrictions using MicroSoft Picture Manager, the saved image was then uploaded to ImageShack which hosts the picture and provides the text you need to embed the picture on this forum - Mike

Many thanks Mike.

If I use the 'image resize' option on the imageshack site wil that do the job to post here? 640 x 480 Messageboard option.

Know this is off topic, thought i would get it in quick like. Smile

320x240 would stay within the limits for this web site rather than 640x480, it better to resize the image on the PC prior to uploading it as its far faster and you can go for the larger picture size closer to 400 pixel width - Mike
