I believe that you can use uncompressed .bmp files in iGO8. Ther is a iGO bmp compressor/uncompressor which works on most types of iGO compressed .bmps, but other than for space reasons, try using them uncompressed and nsee if they wory |

Hi tried just putting the bmp icons on but no joy in them showing up in the poi icon section. guess there is something else you have to do, seem to think that linkjet posted the know how as to how it is done but cant find it. There has to be a way to put your own icons on for specific poi's and not just have the google earth all the time |

The ROOT of the SD Card is the Card itself before anything added, so just copy and paste the ui_igo8 folder straight on to the card i.e don't put it inside any other folder which is already there.
Once added you should see the 2577 Folder, the iGO8 folder, a backup folder and maybe a device .nng file and the ui_igo8 folder on the card. _________________ Formerly known as Lost_Property

The root folder of any partition is the "highest" folder in the hierarchy. The root folder contains all other folders and can also contain files.
But what I actually said was "Unzip the ui_igo8 folder and copy it to the iGO8 root folder on the SD card giving 'iGO8\ui_igo8'."
Meaning the ROOT of the iGO8 folder not the ROOT of the SD Card so you finish up with 'iGO8\ui_igo8'

You can do that with any of the folders within the data.zip, iGO8 will use any files in the unzipped folders in preference to those in the data.zip.

Hi thanks for that Linknet think I've got it now, do I presume right that you then put your own Poi's and icons into this ui_igo8 folder instead of the one on igo? |

No, you need to read my original post, it gives full instructions on exactly what to do.
