This topic has been split from THIS ONE about installing the SDK custom menus, where mickeydavis mentioned
Quote: | I did however add the Statnav hack found on another site, and it works like a charm too. So now I can opt for walking routes, use the Statnav, and walk around the city with great accuracy. Thanks very much! |

Mickey, is this 'statnav' hack you referred to one that unlocks the gps? If so, can you say where you found it? _________________ David |

Sure it is on the TomTom forums, under the title "improve walking with your tomtom" and the url, which I'm not sure will come through here is: http://www.tomtomforums.com/tomtom-3rd-party-softwares/10349-improve-walking-your-tomtom-statnavoff.html
It is quite convenient and easy as long as you put all the stuff from their sdkdirectory into the existing one and put the remaining few files, which are zipped into another folder, directly onto the root directory of the TomTom |

Thanks. Yeah, I've been known to hang out at TTF at times. _________________ David |

I have to say I have my doubts now about whether Statnav actually works. The icons appear to work, but that doesn't mean that the software is doing anything, and I am no longer sure that I see anything different when statnav is on and when it is supposedly off. Let me know if you have better evidence than I. |

My doubts about statnav working have become even more complicated. There are times when it clearly works--there seems no doubt at all. It crawls along at 2 mph walking speed, but continually moves, no jumps nor pauses. But I am not sure it does that without me first going to the option, selecting it, and turning off the unit, then turning back on. I had thought you only have to do that once, but apparently you must do that every time you want it to enter into statnav off mode. I was confused because the instructions say that to go back into statnav, you have to reset the entire unit. That would indicate that statnav sticks until reset. But that seems clearly not the case, at least with the Ease/Start. I think (but I'm unsure) I have to choose statnav each time I turn it off. Thus I don't think it is necessary to reset to turn it on, as it seems on by default.
I could be wrong about all this, of course, but this is what seems to happen from my limited experience and knowledge. |
