Hi, just joined and have a possibly daft question. Years ago I had a TomTom Navigator on my smartphone. I remember having the cow sound set up as my alert of the nearest Mcdonalds, Burger King. I am now using TT6 on a differnt device and can't remember how to set this up. I can do it for restuarants in general, but how do i set it up just for, say, Macdonalds ? Otherwise it goes off evertime I go past or near ANY restaurant. |

In the UK, the built-in POIs for Restaurant's are pretty poor - there is only one combined category and that has McDonalds, KFC, Pizza Hut all lumped in together (and no "real" restaurants either!)
As you can only select a sound effect for an entire POI categoy, you're stuck with the same sound for all of them.
the way round it would be to add your own, specific "McDonalds" user-POI category. Then you'll be able to assign the cow sound (or any other) just for those.
You can get the McDonalds file (and hundreds of others) from this site. Have a look a this page: FREE POIs
EDIT: Although the system might be a bit "flakey" at the moment.... There's a message saying "We are currently upgrading the POI System. This may result in the POIs being unavailable and/or errors reported during this process. Please bear with us through these changes." I had to change countries and hit "refresh" a few times before the various categories got shown properly.
When you get there, the McDonalds file is under "Food and Drink" |
