Hi to all, a new member and my first post here Smile

I was planning to order the Ipaq 2210, TomTom 3 Bluetooth, car kit combination bundle today but having spent the past few hours reading through this and another forum and seeing all the negative posts about this combination I've very seriosuly been put off alltogether.

Can anyone please tell me if the problem with constant loss of communication with the bluetooth reciecer and regular lock-ups is solely down to the TomTom 3 software/reciever? or is it a problem unique only when combined with the Ipaq 2210 only (i.e would buying the Ipaq 4150 instead overcome these common problems?)

Would buying the TomTom3 software seperately and an alternative brand of bluetooth GPS reciever solve the problem?

I'd very much welcome any fellow members advice on what the best bundle is to buy as I really wanted to get one today!

Thanks to everyone who reads this who can reply with your thoughts Smile

I have the 4150, TTNAV3 and Fortuna Clip-on and it all works spot on.

Only issue I had was with version 3.0 of TTNAV but the 3.01 upgrade cured that.

The fortuna clip-on works marvellously, getting strong locks and fast acquisition (a few seconds).

Wifi on the 4150 is also excellent, if you will ever use it that is.

I don't know of anywhere that sells the exact bundle mentioned (most will sell the TT BT with TTNAV3 anyway) but you can get good prices and service from www.globalpositioningsystems.co.uk.

I would recommend buying an SD card from www. valueflash.co.uk. I have a 512MB Integral (rebadged Panasonic) which gives faster route calculation times on the 4150 than any other I've seen posted on this web-site.

Enjoy

Clem, what is the sound output from the 4150 like?

I have a 5450 and the speaker is crap when used in a car which i know is a common fault with this Ipaq and im thinking of trading it in for a different model the 4150 does appeal but im concerned that the speaker may suffer with the same problem.

That's a tricky question.....

Sounds fine in my X5, but it's quite well insulated. I never need anything like 3/4 + volume and the voice is clear. Not owned a 5450 so can't compare but if I'm honest i've never even thought about the speaker so I guess it's not even close to being an issue on the 4150.

Doesn't the 5450 have bluetooth? I use a bluetooth headset on my 5500 and it's excellent.

I have an Ipaq 2210 and TomTom bluetooth and it works just fine. Before I upgraded to TTN3 I took the opportunity of upgrading the 2210 rom which you can download from the HP site. I like the 2210 - the sound is especially good and I can even hear it above the radio when I'm driving.

I've noticed also that with the upgraded rom I don't have to do nearly as many soft resets as I used to.
