|
|
Hi all,
I want to add new POIs to the device and understand I can copy a CSV file into a certain folder but the RAC forum always mentions copying the file to an SD card. It has an SD slot but the slot is empty. In explorer it shows up the flash memory and I assume I cannot place the CSV file anywhere there. So do I need to buy an SD card and copy them on there ? I assume I need to format the card in the device so it shows up the correct folder structure so I can place the files in there ? Any ideas ?

What version of Route 66 software is running on this device? you should be able to find the answer on the device in settings/ about - Mike |

Hi Mike, I'm not sure you can update the POIs from Route 66 can you ? I looked everywhere and there is nothing on there about POIs. The RAC folder mentions copying a CSV file into a certain folder but that folder does not exist on the device flash memory. I am thinking I need to buy an SD card and copy it in the right folder on there. Does the device format the card when you first inert it ?

Have a read of the Route 66 speed camera installation guide I wrote a few years ago see Here, if your device is running R66 v7 then it will work all you need to do is add the folder, if its running v8 take it back to the shop as that software is a joke - Mike |

Mike, It's version 8 WM 8.07550. Surely that must be able to store extra POIs as it has a card reader. I think it's a great display for what I want and I just need to customise it so I can add the POIs I want. I've posted a message on the RAC forum. |

In that case forget it the Route 66 version 8 software is a waste of time as it won't do anything like the version 7 could in way of custom POI or warnings, in fact its impossible to add them from what I tried with a PDA running this software earlier this year - Mike |

Can I install an older version of the software then ? The RAC support guy is ringing me back to discuss it. I don't mind adding POIs via putting a CSV file in a folder but would much prefer a proper interface on the PC. |

You were right Mike. The new software doesn't allow you to add your own POIs. What a load of pants. The RAC support guy confirmed it. I've taken it back and bought a Garmin 1240 (with Pedestrian mode). Cheers for your help. |
