Hi all,

I thought i'd already submited a post in this forum but i cant seem to find it so i'm not quite sure what has gone wrong??

I'm new to all this PDA stuff so 'm looking for a bit of advice. I'm looking for a sat nav kit which includes voice & visual directions for my acer N10?

What i need to know is:-
1/are there any satnav kits out there which will work with this PDA?
2/ do you have experience of these kits?
3/ if there are no kits can i purchase individual items that will work with my N10 (Software, antena, mounts etc)?

I notice Navman do a 1000 & 1400kit but are these any good? I'm led to believe that they only display directions & have no voice? I've also heard that the 1000 is now end of life and i'm not sure that the 1400 will work??

Please can you give me some feedback if possible??

Cheers all

Savin

The Acer N10 is a Pocket PC 2003 machine - not a bad one at all (300MHz XScale, 64MB RAM). It's got both a CompactFlash Type II slot and a SD card slot (the latter memory only).

It's reasonably similar in specification to the Dell Axim X5 Advanced, though it has the slower 300MHz processor.

It should be a perfectly decent machine for GPS applications. Bluetooth GPS is out (there's no Bluetooth on this Pocket PC). A CompactFlash GPS is certainly an option (with the maps on an SD card), and wired GPS may also be an option - I don't know whether the machine has a serial port, and, even if it does, whether there's any GPS cables available.

Software - take your pick - any of the popular Pocket PC applications, such as TomTom Navigator 3, should work.
