I have just got a TomTom One with the WE maps and it came on a 1Gb card. As there is only 20Mb free, I thought I'd copy it to a spare 2Gb card I've got. When I put the copy card in it says the map is wrong for this device? Can this actually be done? _________________ Cheers,

Maps are locked to either the device or card they come on. Whilst you can backup the data to another card or hard drive you can't use that card.
The SD in SD Card stands for Secure Digital and is designed to prevent copying. |

OK understand that but is it safe to add things to the card such as POI's. speedcams and voices? _________________ Cheers,

As long as you keep a couple of MB free you will be fine to add things to the card, POI files are very small files even though they can contain thousands of locations.
I thought the cards supplied with the device were only ever locked to the device and didn't employ the copy restriction available with the SD card ID. Only the maps sold on cards from the TT Shop when they were available were locked to the cards and couldn't be copied.
Try again and make sure you have Show hidden files selected when copying the files from the original card to the PC, then copy the files to the new card, make sure the folder structure is maintained between the old car and the new one - Mike |

Looks like it's locked to the device? I even tried xcopy from the card and xcop back again. Still the same error. _________________ Cheers,

Other forums seems to suggest that this device won't read 2Gb cards without an upgrade? I'll try a spare 1Gb card tomorrow and see what happens. _________________ Cheers,
