Hi everyone, i'm new to this site.can any one give me and my friends an answer to a couple of questions.
The average speed cameras on the M1 near Nottingham, do they work as my mate says he ignores them regularly and has never had a ticket
Also if they do work I have heard that switching lanes confuses the cameras, is that so !!

Hi and welcome.
The answers are Yes they work and no, switching lanes no longer confuses them.
Your mate probably has an AVERAGE speed which is within the tolerances allowed. Don't forget his speedometer under-reads (they all do) so when it says he's doing 60 in a 50 he's probably only doing 54-56 really, which might mean he stays within the acceptable limits when averaged out over the distance. |

They usually aren't switched on when the reduced speeds aren't in force (although that might change, don't quote me!)
And they aren't "confused" by switching lanes. But it was realised that the "type approval" rules governing their use actually meant they couldn't use the results when you entered on one lane's camera and exited on another.
As soon as this became common knowledge, they just changed the rules! |

No. SPECS are the average speed cameras. Temps are temporary GATSOs...
