TomTom Go530 Flickering screen

The tomtom has now become unuseable with the flickering screen.

Map/software update's haven't worked. Seemed to go wrong after we plugged it into the car via the tomtom cigarette adapter.

I seem to remember reading something a while ago that there was a problem with the cigarette adapters overloading the unit and causing this problem.

It was bought last christmas for my mother in comet and she hasn't been able to use it much.

Any suggestions?

Do you have a TMC receiver plugged in? That can cause a flicker ever 15 seconds which is extremely irritating.

Otherwise, I'd bring it back to Comet for a replacement as it will still be under warranty.
