This may have been discussed before, but I can't find anything on it.
As I download several flavours of the database every week, I have found a quick way of selecting the various databases for download.
Create a shortcut to the correct download. How?
Choose the database that you require from the normal dropdown menus. When the 'File Download' box pops up, copy the page address from the the address bar. It will look something like http://www.pocketgpsworld.com/modules.php?name=Cameras&op=DownloadPackage&idPackage=57. Then (Windows Vista) right click the desktop and choose New~Shortcut. Paste the copied address into the 'Type the location of the item' box, click 'Next' and give the shortcut a suitable title. Repeat for other flavours of the database.
Providing that you are logged on to PGPSW, when you double click the shortcut, IE goes to the correct download page and may or may not popup the 'Download File' dialog box as per normal. If it does not popup then just click on the 'If your download does not automatically start: Right-click & 'save as'' link.
Did you know that you can drag the favicon (the little PGPSW logo to the left of the http) to the desktop (or any other location) to automatically create a shortcut to the webpage?

No, I didn't. Thanks for the info. It makes the job so much easier still

Same when using FF, drag the favicon to the Bookmarks Toolbar, sits just above the Tabs if you have it shown.
It will also drag the full name as well, to get rid of that. Right click the icon when in the bookmarks toolbar, select propewrties from the drop down, the top pane will show the full http address etc, just delete it. then close.
You will be left with just the icon showing in the toolbar.
I have about 30 that I use regular, and room for another 20 or so if need be.
Saves going into the Bookmarks al the time. _________________ Triumph Tbird 1700. And now a Bonnie T100.
Many thanks for your tips. I have just used a combination of all three methods and they work well.
Regards, AliOnHols.
Edit - 253, Using your method I have just added a shortcut for "NewPosts". That is so much easier, Thank you.
Presumably, the OP who posted here a short while ago with problems of "Logging Out" could make a similar shortcut? _________________ Garmin Nuvi 2599
