Although I have set up my fixed site cams (I am a subscriber to your database) to warn me only when they are on my route I still get warned when they are not on my route. Why is this?
Thanks,
Pete

There is some tolerance allowed in the Warn when on Route option. Your device will detect cameras/POIs within a certain (unspecified) distance of the road you are currently on. This means that you will regularly be warned of cameras on the opposite side of a dual carriageway, or on a road very close to yours, e.g. at a motorway junction.

The tolerance mentioned by daggers is defined by TomTom, not PGPSW and it really is very variable in results. I keep trying to work out whether the tolerance is "as the crow flies" distance, or range possible to drive to. Sometimes I get warnings for cameras at the other side of the dual carriageway, sometimes I don't, sometimes for parallel roads, sometimes not.

If somebody could persuade TomTom to let us use the directional function, we'd solve it overnight, because our database does have directional information for most of our cameras. Some of our subscribers with other brands of satnav are using it already.

In addition to the above, if you are driving along a motorway for example, TomTom (in their wisdom!) have decided to include every junction system as part of the route too, so the sliproad off and any following roundabouts etc are also considered to be "on route" even if you are continuing on the main motorway.

This didn't used to be the case, but began in v7 maps I think.
I'm guessing they did that because people complained that things like motorway service stations POIs WEREN'T showing up as being on your route before.
