The LIVE service hasn't actually gone live yet, but Navigon have already annouced map updates and POI updates will also be provided through the service.
I assume the map updates will be similar to the TomTom service, where it only notes road changes as I doubt T-mobile would be happy at 2Gb being downloaded over the network.

Will never be a direct comparison as some of the services are different.
However 12 months of Navigon Live would set you back £72
12 months of TomTom's Live service would set you back £95
Navigon is even cheaper, if you decide to sign up within the first 3 months.
I had cooled off the idea of a 8450 (due to it being nearer Christmas) but as Navigon have just announced roads and POI's will be updated via LIVE instead of having to wait for regular map updates it's made me more interested again.
The press release also hints that more maybe on it's way. _________________ Navigon 8450 LIVE |

My sentiments exactly - I had just managed to recover from my 'new toy' syndrome when all this was announced. And I can't help feeling that Navigon's recent track record in feature enhancement, and their relationship with Navteq, promises a much better implementation than other manufacturers' (eg., the current discussion on TomTom and the A1(M) Mapshare farce, and the years' of unimplemented LIVE submissions).
So now the adrenalin is flowing again ... but still the £ keeps plunging against the €. Still patience and a delayed release may yet have their reward, if Navigon does suddenly "up-vamp" some of the current OLD models. _________________ David

I'm still hoping that the 8310 will be offered some of the new features... not so fussed with the Real CITY view yet as I'm not going to see it much (until more cities are added).
However I do have my eye on Amazon... £379 for the 8410 or £399 for the 8450 (however Amazon have listed it wrong... they list it as 8410 with LIVE services' _________________ Navigon 8450 LIVE |

It would be really useful when the new Navigon Live services appear, specifically traffic, that a back to back test could be done with the TomTom HD traffic, which is what I currently have.
Personally I'm willing to pay for the best traffic avoidance system out there as I cover 40k miles per year, anything that saves me time is money well spent!
I'll keep my eyes peeled for independent reviews. |

I will at least resist Amazon till I hear more - if the recent past is anything to go by, if Navigon don't upgrade our current models, they will at least probably try to bribe us to buy a new one with a nice discount (I hope!). _________________ David

BTW, which Amazon is that, jonandmarkuk - I can't find that price on .com, .uk or.de? _________________ David
