I've been trying the TDC package from Tchibo which I believe (wrongly?) is the same as Medion Navigator and Navigon's Navigator (they certainly look the same from the screen shots!).
It's not bad, but rather slow sometimes in use, and I think I've now worked out where (but not why) it is slow. Can anyone help?
My current probelm:
I live in London. If I type 'Lond' for the city, it defaults to London Sw1A for some reason (apparently they consider that the centre). That's fine, but if I accept that, it then takes 40 seconds of the little wheel revolving before I can do anything else. Doesn't matter whether my last entry was London or not (thought it might be quicker if it was in the memory). Then you can select any road in London, but that's another 10 secs or so.
That was what I did to start with and found SO slow. I can't start driving as the icons are much too small to hit while driving (and not safe).
If on the other hand you type in 'NW' for the postcode, it throws up the NW1-N postcodes almost immediately. Selct the one you want from the list, and then you can select the appropriate road almost immediately. Very fast.
But if you type 'NW1' it gets huffy and takes about 20 seconds.
I tried loading a specially small London map, but it's no quicker.
If I use 'Previous destinations' or 'Personal Destinations' it's very fast
So if you know the postcode it's pretty good. But I don't always know it, and then it's really tedious. Any suggestions? (Don't say 'Move out of London - I'm trying to!!).

The problem seems to be once you have selected the town/postcode, it starts looking up all the street names which match, and building the streets menu - which you can sometimes see in action if you manage drop it down. However when its doing this for a location that has a large number of streets, its totally unresponsive to additional input.
I dont think there is any easy way round this. I tend to save any locations which I'm traveling to more than once in the personal destinations section, so they are quick to put back in. But with a large number of entires in that, it can be a bit slow to find them - it needs a quick search in that too.
