I hope someone can come up with a fix for this one, please.
My TTG500 is freezing at the splash screen when I try to power it up. I have tried the usual reset through the pinhole but this has had no effect. The unit will not switch off from the power button either. I seem to remember that there is a method of doing a harder reset than simply applying a paperclip but cannot for the life of me remember how it is done.
Does anyone have any ideas about how to revive the unit please? (This has come at a most inopportune time as I am heading off to Italy this weekend and would far prefer not to have to use an old fashioned paper map for the journey! _________________ Colin |

I am not too sure the 500 has this option in th emenu but if its present give it a shot:
Change Preferences/ Restore Factory Settings (or defaults)
If thats not present do you have a backup? if so I would re-install that to the device which should cure the issue - Mike |

Reset Factory Settings is on page 7 of 7. But not much use if you can't get beyond the startup splash screen.
Switching on whilst holding the reset button in? Holding down the power switch for ages? Switching on whilst connected to the computer? Trouble is, the x00s were so reliable you hardly ever had to do any serious resetting. _________________ Dennis

Does it connect to the PC OK?
If so, back it up, then delete all the loose files (the ones NOT in a folder - don't delete any folders) using Windows Explorer, and then connect to Home and "Update" to reinstall the software |

Very many thanks for the suggestions folks.
After several attempts and two calls to TT Support I finally tracked to problem down to a failed SD card! In all it took until around 22:00 last evening to complete the recovery - just as well I'm retired and could spare the time _________________ Colin |
