Space Requirements on a PDA

I am planning a trip from Pennsylvania to the west coast this summer. How much memory do I need in my PocketPC to store that many maps for a GPS mapping software?

This does very much depend on the software you are planning to use. Can be anything from 50 MB to 1GB

What is the best mapping software for the Pocket PC? How much space would the maps for it take?

Define what you mean by "best".

What is important for you

- map currency
- usability
- cross mapp routing
- custom POI
- WAV or synthesized speech commands
- itinerary with stopovers and waypoints.

As always in life there is no one product that has them all. You need to set priorities.
