|
|
Went to pick up my son from the airport yesterday and didn't notice the 50mph limit heading towards the airport... I was doing more like 60.
On the way out (carefully doing 45!) I noticed a camera in the central reservation pointing north (towards the M4). I guess this is reversable.
Is anyone familar with this bit of road? Is this the only camera? Is it a GATSO stlye one? i.e. does it take pictures of the rear of the vehicle?
If the answer to these questions is yes then I think I'm OK
I'd appreciate any info. Thanks. |

We do have a 50mph cam on the M4 spur to LHR. Which version of our database are you using? |

I'm using the version released in June. I've no doubt this camera is on the database - I just wasn't paying enough attention (kids arguing in back seat etc!)
I just want to know how many and what kind of cameras are on the spur so that I can work out if I will get a ticket or not, rather than worrying for 2-3 weeks (I hate that!) |

Why not look at the map on the camera submission page? That will show you what information is currently recorded on the database. Clicking on the camera will show its details immediately above the map
If it's recorded as a Gatso, it can take pictures of the rear of your car. If it's a Truvelo, you can be nabbed from either front or rear. _________________ Garmin DriveSmart 50 LMT-D |

It's on the database as "Reversible", so it all depends on which way it was operating on the day. Have a nice worrying 2-3 weeks!
Why are you not using the database released on 1st July? (not that it would make much difference - from the camera ID number I'd guess that camera has been on our database since before Heathrow was opened!) _________________ Dennis

Thanks for the suggestion that I look on the camera submission page. It looks as though it's a reversable GATSO which on the day was pointing north (I saw it on the way back). I should be OK as I committed my little faux pas going southbound. Phew! |

The camera on the Heathrow spur has been there for a very long time now and for as long as I can remember it has pointed North (at least when I go past it). |

I pass there daily and it hasn't pointed south for months so you should be OK. |

This sounds like the beginnings of yet another urban whodunnit. Does it point N or S?? These contradictions seem to confirm that at least it is reversible, and is used as such |

I think on this one, RFullerton and I are in agreement that for a very long time it hasn't pointed southbound. I am trying to think if I have ever seen it point South tbh and can't say that I have, but my memory isn't what it used to be either . |

Agreed, not seen it point south for years .. Its a special camera to many as its the first they see when they get back into the UK to remind them they are yet again back in "safety camera country" ;) |

No, I will though, I came across this site as I searched the speed camera talked about in this thread. |
