I am having a nightmare trying to upload updates to my new KENWOOD DNX5240BT.

My story is i am female and not to technical.

I have been to the Garmin website entered all my ID numbers for my new satnav and it is coming up on screen saying mine is the DNX5220BT not the DNX5240BT when it is the DNX5240BT and not the DNX5220BT so i am guessing mine is the same operation system as the DNX5220BT.

I havnt installed any software as such.

My questions are only to people who know is.

1. There is a USB cable coming from the satnav am i right in thinking this is the only way to update this unit by plugging in a wireless laptop running wirelessly to the internet then going to the Garmin website.

2. In the instruction manual it says you can update this system by burning the software on to discs i have tried about 20 discs now and keep getting the same message disc error, i know there is nothing wrong with the disc player as it plays all DVD’s but yet to try a data disc.

3. Done everything possible when trying to upload by disc buy keep getting the same message on the kenwood (((DISC ERROR)))

4. The USB cable that is coming out of the kenwood system am i ok to plug a laptop in to this and try and update from there what my worry is that this cable is only for an ipod or a iphone and by plugging in a laptop i will blow either the computer or kenwood satnav DVD player. HEELLLPPPPPPP as i have sent so many emails to Garmin and spent so much time on the phone with out any replies.

I have used all the right software to burn the discs also used POI loader.
