In a reply from TT support:
"Regarding the voices, you can check the volume preferences and make sure that link volume to noise level is not ticked and that volume is set to 100%. Alternatively, you can use the line out or FM transmitter instead of the internal speaker.
A fix is going to be brought into the next update for those customers who preferred the higher volume."

They should invent something called a "Volume control" and allow people to have it either really loud, or really quiet, or anywhere in between. That would be a good solution.

We've suggested that...
What we'll probably get is a new preferences menu:

My friend, you love doing that. The scary thing is that TT may implement your functionality! _________________ David |

Funny how they listened to prople who said it was too loud ....
but not to those of us who asked for the mp3 playback volume to be independent of the navigation instructions like it used to be in the good old days .... |

Hey, now that's a brilliant idea. Why didn't I think of that? I can imagine that becoming popular. _________________ Dennis

Andy, for a bit of fun why not try logging a support callwith TomTom and include your screenshot, I look forward to the interesting 'cut n paste' answer you'll receive. |

I wouldn't do that. TT seem to have a track record of doing silly 'inprovements' and might just incorporate Andy's ideas |

So it'll be fixed in the next release. Shall we have a sweepstake on what will be broken to counteract it? It wouldn't be right to move forward without something else going back. _________________ Tom Tom GO 720

Surely that's not right - it will NOT be a move forward, it'll be a fix of something they broke to counteract something else, I dunno what.
Nevertheless, I'm happy to join a sweepstake to guess what'll get broke to fix it. I reckon they'll make the Bluetooth handsfree unreliable, maybe it'll crash in mid call? Or they'll make the screen flicker regularly? Or they'll make the voice stutter? Or they'll make the screen refresh after you've passed the turn you needed? Or they'll make the device switch on when you press the power button? Or they'll make it reboot from time to time? Or they'll make it switch itself on in your pocket? Or they'll introduce a screen asking you to agree not to use the device whilst driving?
I'm really dreading it. _________________ Dennis

I dunno - I just tried to worry about all the features they might mess up to mend my volume. _________________ Dennis
