SD Card for Go 530

I want to buy THIS to fit into my TomTom Go530 will it be suitable?

TomTom Home says that I won't be able to use/read it in my card reader so how will I be able to check that it's backed up correctly if I use the card rather than the internal memory?

I've no intention of using it for anything other than the TomTom once it's installed, so if I did put it in the card reader what would happen to it, or would it just not allow me to see what was on the card?

God, I wish I understood computers and sat nav better!

That'll work fine, both in your device and via HOME.

It'll work fine in your TomTom and with your TomTom connected via HOME. Should also work in your card reader.

It's always been the case that you could use the TomTom as a card reader for normal file copy and pasting.... and it still is.
Also, you always used to be able to update a card via Home, either with it in the machine or in a card reader.

But there's been some change either in recent software, boot loader or Home....
For some reason, on some machines Home will refuse to update a card UNLESS it is in a card reader and not the machine.
There's a warning message pop-up in Home to warn you of this, but my Go720 used to work fine like that, until the internal memory died. Now, although the machine runs fine from the SD card, Home doesn't recognise it at all unless I take it out and put it in a card reader, and then Home reads it fine.
