Hi, Does anyone know a FM frequency I should use when listing to MP3's and instruction's. I have tried quite a few already but they always seem to bleed over to a radio signal. Also while I'm on, when do TT release the quartely map updates,is it a unique time to when you signed up or do they release them on mass to everybody at a predetermined date.

The FM band is very busy, especially in London.
I find EITHER right at the bottom or top of the band works best for the places I drive most (London and Kent), so I have both 92.0 and 107.0 saved on the TomTom and the wife's car radio and switch between them to whichever is best at the time. In other places you may find a gap somewhere else.

Finding a gap is actually quite hard with modern radios that want to "scan" all the time. You need to get it into manual tune mode and look for the biggest empty places in the band.

However, I eventually bought a Bluetooth capable radio for my car. The quality of the music from the TomTom is FAR superior and using Bluetooth is the only was to stop it pausing whenever a navigation instruction comes through, which used to drive me nuts!

MAPS:
Quarterly map updates are made available to everyone at the same time.
I keep a list of release dates HERE if you're interested.

I found using FM a waste of time unless you want to keep stopping to retune bith the TT and the radio. So i fitted a cheap Pioneer headset with a line-in socket. It works for my iPhone too.

Try 107,0 as that's what I use while driving M62/ A1M passing your location, a bluetooth link is much better though, it's even possible to add bluetooth connectivity to your car deck by fitting an iO-Play module - Try a search on the forum for more details as a few of us are using these with TomTom nab units and mobile phones - Mike

Hi, Thanks for the replies, I cannot use any add on devises, the vehicles I drive are all company trucks, so they don't offer any chance of fitting any additional gadgets. What I do is tune every vehicle radio on program 6 into 107.5, that way it doesn't bother the other drivers and any preset stations they have selected. I even tried to connect to a bluetooth ear peace but that doesn't work either. I have just added silence is golden to my mp3 file so I'll try that on Monday ( 3 drops london) see how I get on.

Thanks again.

That's probably because the Blutooth Phone and Bluetooth Audio protocols are different.
You might find the Bluetooth fix HERE helps, but I don't think so (that's for getting the TomTom to recognise more audio devices, what you would need is for the BT earpiece to recognise the TomTom. Worth a try though.

I found 88.0 to be the cleanest frequency.
