Following the recent announcements of Garmin's pedestrian-friendly 1200 and 1300 series, Garmin today posted word of the upcoming 1490T. Adding a 5" screen to the feature set, the new Garmin offers Bluetooth, Lane Assist and Junction View, free lifetime traffic, optimized routing to calculate the most efficient route to multiple destinations, automatic time-zone calculation, and Garmin's unique EcoRoute feature, all in a much thinner profile than the traditional nuvi line. Like the 1200/1300 models, the 1490T is compatible with the enhanced pedestrian navigation offered with optional CityXplorer™ maps. Available for many tourist destinations in North America and Europe, CityXplorer maps offer planning that can include public transit systems such as bus, subway, or metro rail, at a very reasonable cost of $10-15 per city map.
The 1490T is expected to be available on July/09 with a suggested retail price of $499. Additional information is available at www.garmin.com and www.garmin.blogs.com. _________________ Garmin 1695 / 255 / 760 w/MSN - Droid w/Google nav + Navigon - Navigon 8100T - Dakota10 - GPSMap76C - GeoMate Jr. |
