Hi, new user here with a software map transfer problem. I have the garmin 60CSx which works fine with the TOPO software preloaded card but I want to transfer maps from the memory map software disks I have bought, I have read the threads regarding the issue with trying to load full maps and onto large cards so have avoided that and am using a 256mb card, I have read all the books and numerous web sites but getting nowhere fast. The data is transfering to the cards, I can see the files on the pc and also file usage on the GPS but no maps, I have tried using the Garmin MapSourse software but that will not recognise the memory map software to pull accross to select it.
Any ideas would be appreciated

Hi,
Sorry, it is impossible to transfer Maps from any (non-Garmin) Ordnance Survey PC mapping software to any Garmin handheld, for both hardware and licensing reasons. In general, MM maps can only be transferred to Windows Pocket PCs, and Garmin handhelds can only be loaded with maps supplied by Garmin (and some specialised vector mapping).
It is possible to transfer Tracks, Routes and Waypoints (the justification of the "compatibilty" statement on MMs packaging) but if a retailer claimed that the transfer of mapping from Memory Map to Garmin is possible then return the product for a full refund.
Thank you very much for clearing that up for me, I will try and just transfer some of the routes we have marked ready for our walking trip in a few weeks.
