My C drive recently fell over and I have needed to rebuild. I was able to reinstall MapSource with V8 maps but when I tried to update from my 2008 CD it demanded the Garmin be connected, took an hour to update the Garmin maps (no actual update as already 2008) and then did not update the PC. What did I do wrong? Can I update Mapsource maps directly from the CD? |

I don't know if this is a help, or if you've already checked it and found it isn't , but I seem to remember there is (or was a couple of years back) a Q&A on Garmin Support about reloading Mapsource in the event of a crashed PC. I think it depended upon you still having the unlock codes. Might be worth checking, if you HAVEN'T seen it. _________________ David

All is now well!
I posted a query on Garmin support, had no response so tried to load the update again. This time it loaded the new map to the PC, installed MapInstall (all in about 5 minutes) and then went straight into another hour plus to "update" the maps on the 660. Once that had started I did not dare to interrupt it in case I finished up with no map at all on my 660.
However, now I can access my map on the PC again. |
