|
|
On purchasing a new nuvi recently I got one free map update which lasts for 60 days. My online login suggests that I can update to the 2009 version of City Navigator but I guess this is based on earlier (2008?) data.
My question is, what is the release date for new versions of City Navigator Europe and is it worth waiting for the 2010 version? |

As I recall it, the original Europe NT 2009 maps were released around 15 October 2008, and the next update (NT 2009.11) about 23 January 2009. You can tell which you have by pressing Tools - Settings - Map - Map Info.
Somebody recently suggested on this forum that Garmin are moving to quarterly updates, which may imply end-April for the next.
Contrary to what it says on the Garmin site, they will not supply the update on DVD, so you must download it (3Gb).

That depends entirely on the point of view. For me, not living in the UK, the DVD shipping takes ages (4-10 Weeks), in addition to the time required for DVD production itself. With a modern xDSL or cable internet connection you just start the download overnight and the next morning the file is in. The 2009 update I downloaded took only around 4 hours, that's nothing compared to the month I waited for the DVD to arrive last year for the 2008 update. |
