|
|
Hi guys
I am completely bewildered at all the different sat nav units and speed camera download options. I am looking for the best unit that £250 can get me, which can warn me about speed cameras and give me reliable navigation.
Thanks in advance |

If you asked a dozen people, you might get a dozen different answers, but TomTom and Garmin didn't get to be market leaders for no reason...
To go further than that, you need to give a few more details...
Most importantly (as surprisingly it's the maps that cost the money)... where do you want to go? Will UK and Ireland maps be enough, or will you need Europe and/or America?
Next, do you ONLY want navigation and camera warnings (just about all of the TT or Garmin models will do that), or are you interested in any of the extras such as hands-free phone call handling, live traffic/congestion updates, fuel prices, mp3 jukebox music players etc.
Do you want to transmit any of this over FM or Bluetooth to your car radio?
Do you want the smallest model available or would you prefer a widescreen version?
That will help narrow it down a bit.
(BTW, this might get a better response in a more general part of the forum. This section is really for questions about the PGPSW Speed camera database.) |

Thanks for the reply Andy!
Its only really the UK that I want to use it. Also I'm most concerned about having good navigation with reliable speed camera warnings. Im not interested in all the other features like mp3, phone sync etc.
Again size isn't really an issue.
The main reason I want sat nav is for the speed camera warnings.
Any reccomendations would be much appreciated. |

Have a look at the refurb 720 TomTom units from TotalPDA.co.uk as these are very capable as a device and offer great camera warning capability when loaded with the camera database from this site, probably the best value for money at the moment. It does offer phone and mp3 but of you don't want to use these features just ignore they are available, will cost you far less than £250 - Mike |
