backing up medion MDPNA150T

Hi, I converted my old medion to run with tomtom maps with info from this site, however I know from past experiences that these units quickly lose their power and when this happens you have to reload the date from the medion discs. Now that I have tomtom navigator running on it and also the old medion files that make the unit work as a PNA, how do I back up all the date on the unit, would it be better to put all the files onto a 4gb or 8gb SD memory card? or back up onto my PC and how do I go about doing this?? computors are not my favourite things, if its made of wood I can make anything work --putors no idea! any help would be much appreciated
