I believe the battery charge only lasts about 2 hours on a Tomtom 1 device. However, I would think this item on Ebay number 330270537230 would be most useful to walkers and cyclists in particular. However, my tomtom RDS/TMC (later type) uses the usb port and not the 'normal' Traffic port. I presume the extra battery would need to utilise the usb port. |

True. It looks like it doesn't have a "pass through" for the USB connector.
Not that many walkers or cyclists would be using the TMC aerial anyway though! |

I understand what you are saying Andy. However, what I am really getting at is the fact I couldn't recharge this back up battery when driving and using the latest TMC Traffic receiver but if I had purchased the earlier version of TMC with a 'pin' connector there would have been no problem. |

Yes, I see what you mean.
How about using a spare USB car charger for the battery pack?
I don't normally recommend eBay, but I still had it open from looking at your item number.
Item 350172602690 is one or 350172602721 is an unusual cigarette lighter doubler PLUS a USB port.
And they are both one penny! (plus the inevitable P+P....) |

Have just got on to the seller of battery pack on Ebay and he says
"Once the unit is docked there is another usb
connector on the bottom."
So, it appears there is a through USB connection after all which means I can still run my TMC/RDS as well as charging the extra battery with the cigarette adapter plugged into the TMC usb and the usb cable from the TMC going to usb on the battery pack. |
