HELP! Oregon 400T Update - roads gone!

Hi
Updated my Oregon for the first time last night from 2.4 something to 2.8 and now all the roads are gone. Confused

Don't use it for driving but the local area does look totally different when you take all the roads out!
Advice appreciated

You have to reset all the options after a firmware update.
Setup-Map-Map information-Select Map.

See what is 'Enable' or 'Disable'

I'm showing:

Enabled - Topo US 2008
Enabled - Recreational Map of Europe v2.00
Enabled - WW Autoroute DEM Basemap NR

Tried disabling each in turn and then enabling but still no roads, here or in the US

Try to zoom in on an area to 300ft.

In and out - 5mls to 20' - still no roads!

What is the size of each map file?
Are they in the unit or on the micro card?

The US topo is on a micro sd card - the European ones came within the unit - how do you check the file size?

plug up to PC and the unit becomes a drive.
How did you upgrade to 2.8?

The most recent upgrade is 2.86 which gives problems.
I have 2.85.

Plugged into my pc, opened up the Garmin 'WebUpdater' software and followed the 'update software' wizard.
My version is showing 2.80 Should I try updating again?

Thanx for the link -
WOW - didn't realise it was the public sorting out Garmins' software for them!
Tried installing version 2.85 as explained. Not sure what opening in mass storage mode means so just copied the renamed file into Garmin (G drive for me) and it's not doing anything there (still version 2.80)
Tried just re-installing version 2.80 but no change there either - only other options appear to be install the latest beta (2.86) or return the unit for a refund!

Quick update
Spoke to Garmin UK this morning - they'd never come across this problem so explained how to do a factory reset - got my roads back!
