|
|
At 8:32pm last night (20 April, the day before TomTom said they'd start shipping), the payment status on my order went from 'Authorised' to 'Captured', and the payment time matches the time of that status change.
I am guessing that this means they've now charged my card in the hope of shipping my upgrade fairly soon. As of the time of this post, the order status is still 'Partialy shipped' (complete with the spelling mistake!) - so no movement on shipping yet.
Today, 21 April, is the day that TomTom said upgrades would start to ship.
The upgrade programme is currently suspended 'due to exceptional demand'. I suspect TomTom won't take orders that they can't fulfil for some time. Hopefully they'll begin to ship today to those people who managed to both order and pay online successfully. In turn, hopefully that should mean that they'll be able to sort out those who had payment problems, and accept orders from those who haven't ordered their upgrade yet.
My order was placed on the 15th at 6:26:30PM according to the TomTom site - this was the day after they started taking orders and, fortunately, after they'd fixed the problems with SSL on payment.
I don't think they've sent out the second email promised to registered users inviting them to upgrade - there again, despite numerous attempts to register, I don't get any of these emails from TomTom anyway.

David
same hear - all the times and spelling the same - 'cept I ordered at 1.45am (love working at night) on the 15th.
I for one have absolutley no faith in Tomtom shipping anything to me - but I am waiting to astonished if it does happen. Not that it matters much if the they ship the 3.01 version as I have an ipaq 2210 which won't work with this version. I would love to know what is so different about this model over all the other pocket pc's.
Cheers
Ian
Anyone taking bets on the date that the first upgrade is received - I'll go for 27/04/04. |

The link given in one of the emails should still work - it's only the front end of the support that's down. |

Interesting - they're not necessarily going in the sequence that orders were placed, then, unless your order including the Western Europe maps makes a difference. I haven't received such an email for my order (which is just for Navigator 3 UK).
This shows two things - firstly that they are shipping upgrades, secondly that the Western Europe maps product is also available for Navigator 3 (as Dave has mentioned elsewhere) - and should soon be available for retail purchase.
I'm sure things will sort themselves out over the next few days - the chances are that people will begin to receive upgrades next week (or possibly tomorrow at a push - though you're the first person to mention an 'order despatched' email).

They are saying 2 working days in the EU so that makes it Monday it should arrive. They also quote in the e-mail
"The tracking number of this shipment is: XXXXXXXXXX
You can trace the status of the shipment of your package by using this tracking number on the website of UPS: http://www.ups.nl/ "
I will go on the web site and have a look!!

The UPS site says the package is in APELDOORN, NL , activity Origin Scan, whatever that is.....so it must be on its way!

Was yours a free upgrade or a paid-for one? I ordered mine on the 15th - paid-for one - and it's still partially shipped. |
