|
|
I have noted that when Camera Manager downloads updates into my designated folder, thay are in GPX format and they do not overwrite my existing files which I downloaded manually and are in Exel comma separated format. This results in my sat nav giving a mixture of voice warnings (which I downloaded from PGPSW) and the Garmin bleep. There seems to be no logic as to when I get a voice warning or a bleep.
Why do the two download methods produce different file formats? |

You shouldn't be downloading manually if you are using Camera Manager. It's designed to be used on it's own as it downloads it own copy of the database.
The files are in GPX format so they can produce the effects you want such as Approach and Overspeed Alerts.
Just delete the old files and let CM do the work. |

Thank you for the very prompt reply. One final question. If I stick to downloading using only Camera Manager will I get only the voice warnings and no bleeps? |

If you have correctly configured the Voices files then yes. |

I have done as you suggested. I have removed my old files and downloaded new ones using Camera Manager. However, when I road test the new setup (driving past two speed cameras) I do not get a voice alert, only a bleep.
I have not altered my voice files. Why should they work with a manual download and not with a Camera Manager download? |

Have you downloaded the ones for Camera Manager? Notice how the voice file names don't match the names of the CSV files? Each CSV file needs a matching MP3 so it knows what to play when making an alert.
You need to use Liz Whitaker or Grahams voice with the title "ASH10 Camera Manager Version UK (MPH) Voice Set".
Also set CM to "Sort By Camera Type and Limit" on the Settings tab. |

Thank you, that explains it.
Can you post a link to the CM voices. Also my Garmin will only accept wave files. Will converting the MP3 files to wave still work with the CSV data files? |

Voice Alert page
The alerts should work as long as you don't alert the file names. |

Funny, I read as don't alter. It just goes to show you read what you expect to see. |

Just out of interest. I like like the sound of Andy's voice, if I change the name of his voice files to match the CSV file names would that work e.g. change " pocketgps_uk_gatso_30.wav" to "Pocketgps_UK_Gatso_Thirty.wav" |
