In nuvi 250, what does the GPS Simulator do? should the setting of the GPS Simulator be set to on or off? This is found in (Tools, settings, GPS Simulator).
Mini is set to Off by default.

If you turn it on you can plan a aroute and then it'll ask if you want to see a demo of the route. That's about it really. |

If you turn the simulator on the unit stops reading from the real satellites and simulates them instead. Then if you plan a route when it's finished calculating the route it'll offer to show you a demo of the route. It's also handy for when you want to plan a route between two points and one of them isn't where you are right now. You can go into Browse Map and find a location, set the cursor to that place and click Set Location. Any route you plan will start from that location and not your current location.
Try it. Switch the GPS Simulator ON and then plan a route. Say Yes when it asks if you want to see a Demo.
Then try using Browse Map and you'll see you can move around and then change your current location by using the Set Location button.
Note: GPS Simulator is always switched to OFF each time the unit is restarted. |

And (by not having to work at tracking the real satellites) it's saving your batteries while you play around with your unit in your lounge.
