Hi, Can someone help with this one. If I want to update an already installed POI, do I have to deleat the old one first or does the new one only install the bits that the old one hasen't got. I'm mainly looking at petrol stations, Travel lodge, poi's that are changing all the time.

You don't say which device you have, but for my TomTom 520, I just grab the latest version of a POI category and unzip it directly to the map folder and allow the new file to overwrite the existing.

In this way, there is no hassle with deleting any files.

Hope this helps.

Hi, I do this all the time.

Make sure that the files are called the same as the old ones, and the new ones will overwrite them.
if you haven't updated in a long time, the new POI files have PGPSW (similar) tagged on the end, so if your old ones don't then you wll have to delete the old ones manually.

Which is a good incentive to update the PGPSW database otherwise when you download the new poi file you will no longer have any additions you have made - unless another member who is more pro-active has added it!
On this subject, I have found the easiest way to add a POI (not thaat I have done many yet) is to get the co-ordinates from your TT and enter them in the box just above the map - e.g. 50.88236 -2.79411 (first is latitude, second longitude, west being negative) then click 'find a location' then (assuming it is correct 'update co-ordinates' - fill in the details, then submit. Apologies if this prcedure is already laid out somewhere (I am sure it will be)
