|
|
Hi guys
I bought a tomtom go 720 for my dad for xmas, as I read that they can be updated to all the new software etc.. is there an idiots guide around here that i can use? Its brand new, and i havent downloaded any maps etc, I have had a quick look round, and noticed there may be issues with voice probs? is this still the case? TomTom home is saying i can upgrade to version 8.3, is this safe?
Cheers for any info folks ;)

The absolute very first thing you MUST do is back up using windows Not TomTomHome

As for 8.300 I used it for a while and had problems, as you can see I now use 8.204 which is for the X40 range. But I have no problems for the time being.

i have backed up via home, and copied everything on the tomtom manually as well, hopefully that should be insurance against it going wrong |

okay.....
Connect to Home. If a newer firmware is offered, accept it and download it and install.
Now, use Home to select latest map guarantee. You should be offered 8.15. If you are, accept it and download it (it may take HOURS) and install it.
Then, make ANOTHER Explorer, not Home, backup to a different folder on your computer. _________________ David |
