Etrex H - How to import routes from PC

Just looking at a simple GPS unit, and for ease of use as a device to confirm my paper map nevigation is OK I want to try and understand what can be done with one.

I've already got an iPaq plus Tomtom GPS and I think I can download software that will allow me to get OS map co-ords off it but batrey life and phaff put me off that solution.

With the Etrex H can I upload a route of waypoints from a PC without using Memory Map or equivalent? Or without software is that device limited to just telling me where I am?

You will need software to transfer tracks, waypoints and routes to and from your unit. EasyGPS is a free program which will let you do just that.
For the UK, visit http://maps.the-hug.net/ to view your tracks or create your routes.

Garmin's own MapSource update can be downloaded and installed as standalone and will also let you edit and view your data against what freely available maps are out there or launch to Google Earth to view.

So the software shouldn't be a problem.
