The city council has installed two Watchman cameras in Whiteladies Road
and one in Long Cross, Lawrence Weston.
http://www.thisisbristol.co.uk/news/Bristol-gets-new-speed-cameras/article-533616-detail/article.html
They are not run by the Safety camera partnership. From the rear they look very similar to the normal speed cameras.
I can easily plot the two Whiteladies Rd ones - but do these get included in the database?

OK MaFt thanks for your reply.
When these cameras were proposed about six months ago I spoke to the local speed camera partnership and they said the cameras were nothing to do with them - they "only put cameras where proven accident criteria are met" Got the impression they weren't too interested or bothered about them.
At the time they weren't sure when asked about whether the cameras would deliver evidential quality or just indicative data.
I then spoke to the police who said they would look at the "evidence" offered by the council in the same way as if I was to ring up and say car registration abc 123 was speeding - and then deal approriately or not at all.
Good to have them in the database but I do wonder if anyone will be nicked as a result of them.
Maybe they are more useful as ANPR cameras....
Maybe an FOI to the council in a few months and see if anyone has been prosecuted. |

as far as i'm aware you can't be prosecuted (at least at the moment) by the watchman cameras. however, they LOOK like 'normal' cameras and are actually cameras so they have been included in the database. there's a load around manchester too that are the same (but an older model)
