Hi all

Well I have to say what a great site...although since visiting over the last few weeks has added much confusion to what was once thought to be a straight forward purchase!

I did have in mind buying the BT Tomtom Nav 3 package, but having read about dodgy reliability issues with the unit this has now been pushed to the wayside. Next I read about the Emtac BT receiver, superb reception although there are worries about the longevity of the battery, so that has now been struck from the list!

So it's down to the Fortuna BT Clip On - having read on the forum a few problems regarding the battery charge times etc is this the BT receiver for me??

Or does anyone have any suggestions!?! (Holux maybe?)

Many thanks again

Richard

Have you tried the comparison database? Many more models to choose from ;-)

lbendlin - thanks for the reply. I have seen the comparison page but it's geared up more as a spec comparison rather than a user ' getting beneath the skin' etc

well, first of all you need to get a grip of what it is you want (which criteria are most important) Once you singled out the receivers that match these criteria then you can check the reviews for any hidden traps or things to consider (as you mentioned the stability issue).

If I may interject here?

I have the fortuna clip on and have had not one moment of problem with mine (loads of challenges with the user - but none with the hardware!!) :-)

In fact if anything I have a challenge running DOWN the battery! It never seems to need charging. I sort of plug it in at home when I get around to remembering - not seen a red light yet - other than the time I left it switched on for 2 days and the battery then went flat - charged it up and all is fine after that.

Keep the fortuna on the list, it's a great piece of kit

Steve

Hi Richard,

I'm currently on my second Fortuna Clip-On, which I've had for just a week. At the moment it's behaving itself. However the first one was OK for a few days before the battery lost its charge too quickly.

I agree with Steve that the Clip-On is a great GPS Receiver. However there are some faulty ones out there. Just be aware.

Regards,
