|
|
I have finally given up on TTN6 (there appears to be no future updates or support or new maps forthcoming).
Therefore I have just purchased CoPilot Live 7 and would like someone to tell me if I can move my favourites from TTN6 to CPL7?
Assuming this is possible can anybody give me a step-by-step instruction on how to do it?
Sorry if this question is already answered elsewhere in the forum, I couldn't find it
Thanks for your help.

Are your favourites in a custom POI Group or just stored in 'Favourites'?
if they are in a custom POI group then it's fairly straightforward to copy the file, if they are in favourites then you would need to save them as POIs in a custom POI group first. _________________ Darren Griffin |

If they are stored as true favourites then download POIEdit from Here then locate the file with a .cfg extension (it will be in the map folder) - recently this file name was standardised to MapSettings.cfg but TTN6 used the map name so it could be Great-britain-map.cfg or similar.
Once you have the files within POIEdit you can edit the contents then use SaveAs to convert the format to csv - Mike |

Thank you to both Darren and Mike for your help so far.
Indeed the favourites were saved in the TTN6 Favourites folder and not as separate POI's.
On Mike's advice I have successfully downloaded and installed POIedit and have loaded my mapsettings.cfg into the programme. My first observation is that I cannot find any instructions/manual with POIedit and am therefore back for more help from the forum.
Mike in your last posting you suggested that I download POIedit (which I have done), then open mapsettings.cfg, within the programme, which I have also done; I have also edited the file in order to keep the TTN6 favourties I want to tranfser to CPL7; Here is my new challenge, you said to export/save as .csv file, however there are at least five different csv export choices (non of which appear linked/related to CoPilot Live 7).
So in order for my TTN6 favourites to be converted to work with CPL7 which csv save as option do I choose? Furthermore do you know where I can get instructions on how to use POIedit as I can't find this on their website or in the help programme. I am also finding it impossible to see any UK maps in the map window - all that is present is the Holland map!
Thanks for your patience and help with this query

gmcgrotty - here is the solution I used when I moved from TTN6 to CPL7.
1. In TTN6 save all your favourites in new POI category called "myname".
2. Using a card reader or file explorer on your device, go into \storage card\copilot\eu\save\ and delete all files starting with aop.
3. copy "myname".ov2 file from the map directory of your TomTom country/region and paste it into\storage card\copilot\eu\save\.
4. restart copilot, the application will show updating progress bar. When finished, all your transferred favourites will be in Custom POI under "myname" POI.
This also makes it easier to add to in future and in case you want to transfer back to TTN if they ever sort out TTN7 for the rest of us. |
