Indeed it is the Micro SD type the device uses, as for capacity, anything upto 32GB should work - I use a spare 6GB in my 940 for music - Mike

No it uses the card for storage of whatever you want to put on it, TBH to free up space on my unit I did the full backup and removed the North American map folder from the device. This frees up nearly 2GB and you can always put the map back on the device if you head out in that direction - Mike

As above I have found that you can put what you want on the card. I copied the full backup to the card when I was trying to resolve issues and found that the unit boots from the card in preference to the internal memory.

I also discovered if you use a different version of the operating system between the card and the internal memory, it wipes out the bluetooth settings. If you use the same version the only issue is that wants you to agree the startup disclaimer again.

If you just move a map folder to the card the unit still sees it.

When you connect to Home it asks if you want to use the system on the card or the internal memory.

If you put the card with the full system in a card reader, Home thinks it has connected to your device and even sees the device number and the device serial number.
