Hi
Have searched a bit but time prevents too much research so apologies if this is elsewhere.
TT 920 Go 8.010 map version 715.
I am keen to get the advanced lane warning thing but........ went to look at maps and came across the map update service thing which I find confusing.
Seems like I pay £25 + for the next update but have to start with the one I have already got. Then I cannot get an update unless I subscribe a further £50 squids plus = £77 ish. Or I can just buy the 815 map for a 'one'er'. Seems a bit confusing as - what is the likelihood of me needing any further updates in the next 12 months. TT being what they are I would expect them to wait 12 months and give me nothing until my subscription expired then bring out a new map update which I would not then be entitled to!!
Can somebody advise / point me in the right 'thread' direction please? I am happy with what I have got ( worked great in menorca last week too ) but just want the lane warning stuff. £25 I would consider but not £77 or £100. Do I forget it?
Thanks guys |

If you are not willing to consider £77, then quite simply forget it.
Others (including me) have chosen to take the map upgrade service, which gives you the latest map (which you'd need for the Lane Guidance feature), plus the next twelve months map updates - expected to be four updates during that time. This offer (including 12 months, 4 map upgrades) is actually priced at less than the cost of the stand alone map.
Significant features with the v8 maps are Advanced Lane Guidance and Lane Images. Some people like these, others hate them (I hate them and have them turned off permanently, or rather, it would be permanently if only the device would leave them turned off, but a default setting seems to restore the wretched things all the time). So I'd suggest if you really fancy them, you should give them a go looking at somebody else's device before you buy. _________________ Dennis

If you want the advanced lane guidance, then updating is worth it. The update also comes with IQ Routes, which is one of my favorite features. I've used both on the GO 730, and those along with the map updates are worth the extra cash. |
