I've read a week or so ago that the mapshare servers will be down for a week or so. Are they online again ? Anyone downloaded any mapshare
today/yesterday etc. ? Thanks. |

None just now (18:53 in UK) although I still have 72124 on my device, that is after I deleted them all and they were then reinstalled yesterday.

On HOME version 2.4.0.104 which is my current one, it says in the top right hand corner
"Your map is up to date
72124 MapShare map corrections in use"
with a green dot to the left of "Your map ..."
obviously this is only displayed when the TT is connected.
Cheers

To get that display requires an add-on or "extension" to Home.
It used to be called something like the "MapShare Corrections Indicator" and you used to get it by clicking on Tools / Home Extensions, then select it from the list to download.
However, it seems for most people, that when they update (!) to Home v2.4, the indicator is automatically replaced by the "Map Status Indicator" that tells you how out of date your main map is as well as the Mapshare corrections.
As Home v2.4 is designed to wipe all your corrections the first time it runs, and the Correction servers are down for the foreseeable future, most peoples' display probably says "0 corrections", it is a mystery how C-the-c kept his.
But as mine also says my map is up to date when it is fairly ancient, I don't believe a word of it any more!
Anyway, to cut a long story short, to get the indicator, you may need to ask for it in Tools / Extensions. |

TomTom Support have just updated by Question to say that they (Front Line) understand that the issue has been resolved and have asked me to try a MapShare update using Home, by the end of today.
I'll try when I get home.
Whoo Hoo - MapShare and a new PGPS Safety Camera update in one day - my cup runeth over (if it works). _________________ Ric - TomTom 520 DEAD - Passed to the great traffic jam in the sky. Now using Maps & Waze on Samsung Galaxy S4 + CamerAlert of course! |

Still nothing for me either . . . except that it's offering me map 'updates' version 6.32!! for my 7.20 map, along with version 5.04 of the Post Code file.
It still says "No new mapshare corections". |

Tried three times between 19:30 and 22:10 to get MapShare updates. No surprises - nothing doing!
I've sent a respone to TomTom support, suggesting that 2nd & 3rd line get their bum's in gear and make a public announcement on the front page of TomTom.com when the service is available. That'll go in the bin, I would expect. _________________ Ric - TomTom 520 DEAD - Passed to the great traffic jam in the sky. Now using Maps & Waze on Samsung Galaxy S4 + CamerAlert of course! |

Brilliant...
I just gave it a try and:
First thing it now does when I go to "update my Go" is throw up a message saying that as I have just updated my software I need to disconnect and reconnect twice for it to be activated (it has done this ever since I put v7.481 one on it a few days ago.
I ignored it and it went into searching for updates anyway, then it threw up another message blaming me because I "was not connected to the internet or *I* was having trouble using it"!
Strange then that it was perfectly happy to UPLOAD my latest Mapshare corrections 2 seconds later on the same missing internet connection.
Useless heap of **** |

I just got offered version 7.10 maps for NA and USA (I have 8.10 NA) installed, although in lovely red letters it warned these maps could not be installed on my device. So it **is** a time machine, after all
Seriously.......I was also offered (and I've never seen this offered before over the past year) some file so that the rds antenna would work in any country. Since I don't have the antenna, I declined that, too.
And, of course, no mapshares.......
(notice how we never discuss the fact no poi updates are ever offered, anymore. ) _________________ David |
