This is because there is no bmp file with the same name as the poi file
ie
abc.ov2 should have abc.bmp to go with it.

In which case there is something wrong with the bitmap (.bmp) file for those POIs.
Try re-downloading. Which POIs where they? _________________ Darren Griffin |

The fact the .bmp opens is not good enough. The size MUST be 22x22 pixels and 24 bit to work.
And have you named the .ov2 and the .bmp EXACTLY the same? Case sensitive and all that. _________________ David |

And returned. The bitmaps were 14 x 14, I have re-sized them, let me know if that resolves the issue? _________________ Darren Griffin |

Can you please clarify where this POI file came from, if it was from BT (as your employer great) if it was from TomTom as one of your earlier posts suggest then I don't think they should be hosting this sort of data - Mike |

It has been pointed out quite correctly that the POI set in question is for BT exchanges. I confess I hadn't given any thought to the actual POI as I was concentrating on the bitmap.
As I have said before, such POIs ought not to be offered for public consumption for security reasons. Anyone who has a legitimate reason for needing them should be able to acquire them from their employer. I have now removed the link.
If this POI set was obtained from TomTom then they should be notified that offering such data is dubious at best and possibly criminal. _________________ Darren Griffin |

thanks for your time Darren, actually managed to resize myself and now works ok
take your point about it not being in the public domain though. funny thing was i actuall failed to find it through the company (although i know its there) and then found it on TomTom

Going back to the issue of why TomTom were supplying it with an incorrect bitmap... I'm not at all surprised.
They also hosted several new audio files of a type that would not work on their own units. When I pointed it out to them, all they could suggest was that I gave them a negative star rating! |
