Which Tomtom model would you recommend I have a budget of £150 only need the UK maps. My trusty old Medion pda with Rolyal Tek has just broken after 4 years of constant use, the pda still works it’s the wired gps that has gone.
Thanks

Thanks John
It’s easy to be drawn into a higher price model I like the look of the 520 or
With its extra functions voice recognition and hands free mobile.
Is it worth going for the newer model 720 or 730 or would the 520 or 530 be ok, also is the traffic thing any good and do you have to subscribe to a service? |

The difference between the 520 and the 720 is the 720 has European mapping The 530 is basically the same as the 520 but with mapping that has the IQ routing and ALG( Advanced lane guidance ).
It is expected that when the new mapping is released ( which of course has to be paid for)it will upgrade the features of the 520 to the roughly same as the 530
I believe the traffic has improved to what it was with a newer release of software ! I myself do not have the traffic but maybe a member who does will comment on this |

Don't forget to do a windows explorer back up do not trust tomtom home to make a correct copy
I am sure you have made a good decision |

The speed camera selection is one for your own choice, the single file is by far the easiest to set up but offers the least information, you don't know what type of camera or its rated speed that you are approaching, the Consolidated by type will tell you the type of camera but not the speed, Speed Zoned is the best for information while driving. Configured correctly you will get a spoken warning telling you of the camera type and its rated speed, the small downside is this takes slightly longer to set up (ten minutes with your eyes shut, or 5 if you are in a rush, and you only do this once, updates are simply copied to the device there is no set up required for updates).
There are links to the various setup guides at the bottom of the downloads page, if you get stuck just ask and someone will sort the issue out - first though before you do anything else copy the entire device to your PC so you have a backup - Mike |

Just read the guide a couple of times, make the back up and take your time working through it, with practice it becomes much quicker - Mike |

I use the speed zone complete I am by no means a computer whizz but I even managed to do it okay I am sure you will be fine.!!!
Just a point when you disconnect your sat nav from the computer make sure you use the correct disconnect device procedure by using the disconnect tab on the top of tomtom home and then wait for your device to ask if you want to connect to the computer again then click no !!! the reason is the software can be corrupted easily .
If you are UK based you will get a latest map guarantee were you have 30 days to upgrade your map free of charge ( if a newer one is out )if you leave it a while a new map is expected to come out soon but I do not think anybody is sure when yet unless I have missed it.
If you have any problems downloading anything just do a post everyone is really helpful on here although my knowledge is very limited compared with some of the members on here |
