|
|
Back in April we announced that our 250,000th forum member had just registered and we have now just reached our next milestone!
Not so long ago the subscribed member, peacer, downloaded the database in their usual manner - little did they know that theirs was the 1 millionth download since the subscription model was put into place!
To commemorate this momentous occasion peacer has been awarded a FREE Lifetime Subscription with free access to the Speed Camera Database for life.
We now have well in excess of 1.25 million visits per month, due in no small part to the contributions of every one of you our members. This has helped us remain firmly rooted in the No1 spot as the largest GPS Website WorldWide and the provider of the UK's finest Speed Camera Database (with other countries in hot pursuit).
So, once again it gives us great pleasure to extend the subscription, for life, of our 1,000,000th downloader peacer. If you don't want to wait until the 2millionth download then click here to see more ways you can be awarded a FREE Lifetime Subscription!
Click here to subscribe for only £19 per year. |

MaFt | 1 million download * £19 per year == £19m/year !! Easy! _________________ Jock

But it's £19 a year not £19 a download. If each new release is downloaded once that's over 20 downloads a year, and many people download for more than one device, or more than one country, or more than one different version. And then there's the ever-increasing number of lifetime members who aren't paying at all.
Brings the £19m a year down a bit! _________________ Anita

I'm guessing that the verifiers' downloads also form part of that total.
We're also forgetting the zillions of lifetime members who pay nothing for their downloads.
It looks like the income has taken another blow and Darren's yacht will have to be put on hold _________________ Andy

£19m! Oh if only! If it was £19m we'd have been snapped up by some big operator long ago.
If everyone only downloads once per release that's an average of 24 downloads per year per subscriber and as has been pointed out, the download count is for total files downloaded in over 2 and a half years. _________________ Darren Griffin |

For every new release, I download FIVE sets, then every time I feel the urge to update for the latest Verifiers files, three downloads. So I download 120 a year just for the new releases, with probably another 300 at least interim ones to update my Verifiers records. Another verifier admitted the other day that he downloads a fresh set every morning in case there have been any new cameras submitted in his area (he should get out more!!).
I imagine most verifiers will download similarly to me and there are how many of us? 40 or more? Pardon me whilst I exit left temporarily to work out 425 a year times 40 verifiers, times 1 year and 8 months since we started the official verification team ...... Is that about 30,000 downloads by verifiers alone? I give up .... Anita? Heeeelp!!
Now all I need to do is learn how to work my new toy so that I can download and install updates on the hoof, then I'll be downloading from the middle of the Brecon Beacons tomorrow afternoon. I think. Maybe. _________________ Dennis

I don't know where you get your 425 downloads a year, Dennis. I make it 120 for the new releases plus 300 Verifiers files = 420 files x 40 verifiers = 16,800 downloads x 1.6666 years = 27,999 downloads.
But then there's the period between charging for the database and the setting up of the official verification team to add just the new release downloads, and I don't know what period that was.
But does it really matter? _________________ Anita

Poetic licence, or Truth and Economy, or Lies, Damned Lies and Statistics. I reckoned 420 plus or minus and I suddenly realised I can multiply 25 by 4, so settled for an extra 5 downloads a year (I could do that tonight to make sure) and that's 425. And after a relatively short time at the calculator, it worked out at 18,000 a year, which divides by three for 12,000 for the 8 out of 12 months to give a total nice round figure of 30,000. I can do 30,000 - 27,999 is difficult. Verifiers hit the ground running on 1st December 2006, so we had about 10 months of simple downloads before that.
Sorry, Miss. I'll ask Vera to give me an extra smack tonight when she gets home from swimming. _________________ Dennis
