I've been using my Palm TT & my GPSmart for the past year with no problems.
I've just acquired an iPAQ H1945 and I have been successful in setting a bluetooth ActiveSync and a bridged connection to my PC for Internet access on my H1945.

In doing all this I think I have ruled out any major problems with either my GPSmart or the iPAQ H1945.

However, I having real trouble getting either Mapopolis or TomTom on my H1945 talking to the GPSmart. So far I have paired the 2 devices and within the Bluetooth manager I see "GPSmart: SSP slave". Should I double click this icon before launching mapopolis?

In Mapopolis, I've set the Com port to 5 (I've also tried 8) and the Baud rate to 38400.

When I start the GPS in Mapolpolis I either get "GPS Port (COM5:) is not available" or "checking COM8:"

Any ideas? Surely it shouldn't be this hard.

Pairing is good, but not really required. THe 1945 needs to connect to the service that the GPSmart is providing. If you tap and hold on the GPSmart in the 1945's BlueTooth Manager, you should then see a popup "Connect to serial port" . Only after this is done you will be able to see the incoming data stream.

Now if that's on COM port 8 or 5 - dunno. try it out. Depends on the TomTom GPS version. If you use 2.09 then chances are high you won't get Mapopolis to run until you implement the TomTom Anti-World-Domination fix (as described in the TomTom forum)

Thanks for the advice.
As I've only had my H1945 for a week, I decided I had nothing to loose by doing a hard reset.
I loaded Mapopolis and it connected to my GPSmart first time on COM port 5.
Something must have locked the Com port permanently.

... and we know what it was... Try not to install the TomTom GPS 2.09 driver. 2.07 is good enough.
