I had a go700 with the latest software and western europe maps 710.1561, ive have a back up of this on my pc.

Its been dropped and now wont work so ive got a bargain Go910 but it has older maps, now can i copy the map from my Go700 backup to the 910?

As i only bought the maps in december i dont really want to pay any more moneys out to tomtom?

I can't see there being a problem with that.

You might need to get TT to give you a new Activation Code.

Best to phone them and explain. They might need to know which Map ID you are using, I think this is in the TOC File, and they will need to know the Device Number.

As to the Map. Make a copy of the 910 Map on the PC, just in case, and then Copy the complete contents of the 710 Map Folder to the 910.

Never having done what you intend I presume TT will offer you a new Western_and_Central_Europe-7.meta.dct File to download. This is the Activation File.

I would be truly--and pleasantly--surprised if that process works, namely getting a map for one specific device to work on another.

I've been led to believe that, for example, a map activated on a 720 will NOT work even if attempted to be loaded on another 720.

So, transferring from one TT TYPE to another and having it work would be, as I said, a shock.

It worked on my W&CE maps from a go 300 to a 520 without any hassle from TT. I must have had one of the clever TTSupport guys.
