Just as above. I am downloading Western and Central Europe 8.05 for
my GO930 via Latest Map Guarantee.
Looks like the previously mentioned issue has been at least solved |

Hello everyone.
I’m new to Pocket GPS World and TomTom.
I’ve not long bought the Go 730T, arrived last Monday and I now would like to upgrade it to v 8.5. Home informs me that it’s available.
Can anyone give me step by step instruction as to what I need to do, where I have to go to download it? Do I need to send any proof of purchase, that I was sent in PDF format to anyone, etc. Do I need to phone or email? Any info will be appreciated that this old head of mine can take in.
If I’m asking this in the wrong place please correct me. In light of the above post, I thought it appropriate.
Kind regards, |

if HOME informs you there is a new map avaiable to download, just get it now and be happy. home will download the map and update your device automatically. |

Thanks for the quick reply.
On the bottom of home it says:
“Time to refresh your map. New maps out today”
When I click on it, it takes me to TomTom site that that says:
“Buy a new map in 3 easy steps”
I don’t think it’s the right page. I don’t want to buy, I want to upgrade under the Latest map guarantee.
Regards, |

Assuming you are using Home v2.2 or v2.3 then connect the TomTom to the PC and run Home. Make sure you are logged in to your TomTom account (top right) then go to the "Tools" menu where there is an entry called "Use Latest Map guarantee".
It should recognise that you are entitled to the new map and lead you through the update process.
Many people have found in the past that it DOESN'T think you deserve the update though, so they have had to get on the phone to TT. |

Just in case the OP doesn't know the number for UK support:
0845 161 0009
I would try phoning them directly as they should be able to resolve this - Mike |

Many thanks to you all for your advice. After trying 12 times, Home eventually connected me to the server and I was able to donwload and install 8.5. Thanks again.
Ah, but don't think you got rid of me. I'll be off to SUBSCRIBE to the PAID MEMBERS FORUMS, and I'm sure I will have many more question.
Regards to all |

Great news, you might even be one of the first to get the new map for the x30 devices via map guarantee, if you get stuck with any issues a question on the forum will generally produce a very quick answer.
One point though, please take a little time out to connect the device to the PC and use Windows Explorer to copy the entire contents of your TomTom to the PC as explained on the FAQ page along with a number of other frequently requested information, spend some time reading these for information as it might help you in the long run click Here - Mike |

Looks like the Map Upgrade server is down again this morning after speaking to TT Customer Support on the phone.
I managed to update my North America map overnight to V805.1801 but no joy with the WCE Map. Still stuck at V800.1762 and the TTHome reports that I have no map updates available to me !
Does anybody know why the North America map on the TTWebsite says it is a 1.92GB file whereas when installed on the device itself it says it is 1.5GB ??
Also the new WCE Map from the TT Website quotes a file size of 1.68GB but my WCE Map on my TomTom is already 1.75GB. So the new map with more data is smaller?
The guy a customer support could not give a firm answer to this and instead rambled on about compression ratios. _________________ TT GO 1005 |

There is no WCE 8.05 map on TomTom website. You actually confused
Western Europe 8.05 (on TT website, which is 1.68GB as you describe) with Western and Central installed on your device.
For your information, new WCE 8.05 is 1.92 GB. |

negative, i haven't succesfully downloaded any of the map. actualyl I got WCE one, but HOME or TomTom is doing something wrong with map activation on my device, thus I cannot use downloaded map.
very bizzarre problem and I think it has something to do with the fact
that tomtom had to manually change my device code in their database,
as i got a device, it was faulty, returned to the shop and got a new one.
i should have registered the new device in another account istead of changing
things for my current one, this is where the activation problems started |

Am not really bothered about European maps, all I really want is the UK.
Am thinking of getting a 730 as 530 is not available yet and the cost difference is not too great.
If it arrives with version 8 maps, which maps would I need to update to 8.05 to ensure getting the latest UK map?
Do you only get one map under the latest map guarantee or one upgrade? |
