Hi All
I have recently started using the Speed Camera Database and it works perfectly. I removed all the old tomtom files (ov2 and bmp) and copied the PGPS files over. I still have a selection of .mac and .dat files in the folder. Are these part of the Navigator software or left over from the tomtom camera database? I don't want to delete in case there're required. Can anyone throw any light on this?
Many Thanks _________________ Adam |

The .dat files are map system files and should not be deleted. I'm not sure what the .mac files are, they're not from TomTom's camera database as far as I know.
What system are you using? _________________ Darren Griffin |

Thanks for your reply.
I'm using an orange SPV M700 with Nav 6.030 if that's what you mean by system _________________ Adam |

Yes it was, I don't have a v6.00 PocketPC install to compare with but I would leave the files where they are as I'm certain they will be system files of some sort. _________________ Darren Griffin |

Again Thanks for your reply. Here's some of the file names:
UK_and_IE_plus_major_roads_of_WE-62e8a279.mac
UK_and_IE_plus_major_roads_of_WE-62e8a27a.mac and so on to the last one that is the same except for the last letter
UK_and_IE_plus_major_roads_of_WE-62e8a27f.mac. these run abcdef and there's also a .mid and a .pna file.
Any ideas or should I find something else to do on this sunny bank holiday
Thanks again. _________________ Adam |

IIRC the .mac files ar part of the map unlock files, the .mid and .pna definitely are. _________________ Darren Griffin

For the record the TomTom Speed Camera files are:
Safety_Cam_UK_TomTom.ov2
Safety_Cam_UK_TomTom.ov2.dct
Safety_Cam_UK_TomTomOv2.ver
DO NOT MESS AROUND WITH THE OTHER FILES - the ones you mention in earlier posts are all part of the map data, as Darren has said these should be left well alone - Mike |

Thanks Mike. I was curious at first as I thought that they may have been part of the Tomtom camera system. So when removing the Tomtom camera files to replace with the PGPS database, I thought I had better check. Thanks to Darren and yourself for your interest and answers.
regards

If its of any help , I have checked my PDA and I have three map folders in situ on my memory card i.e. UK,.WE and Canaries I have two mac files in the main unit Tomtom folder i.e. UK and WE, same .mac file in UK but not in WE only .mms file, have no mac files at all for Canaries, So appear to be part of tomtom aplication but do not know why one appeares twice, also they appear to be designate as mac paint files but i cannot open them in Paint shop Pro X2, I wonder whether are perhaps Map base files, not sure whether this helps or confuses ???, but my pda works fine. |

Thanks aj2052. I'm just going to leave well alone. My systems works perfectly as well. At least we now know that these files should be present.
Thanks for all replies again. _________________ Adam |
